A: Brussel sprouts are generally a fall garden plant. Need to space plants 12-24 inches apart. Need moist, fertile soil and never allow the plants to completely dry out. Planting beans and summer squash are good either before or after the brussel sprouts.
A: With Irish potatoes, the vine will start to die. It's harder to tell with sweet potatoes but both should be ready sometime between 3-4 months from planting. Both cure by laying singly on a newspaper in a cool, dark place, such as a garage. Cover with newspaper for at least a week.
A: Squash plants have both male and female blossoms. As long as you're producing fruit, it is a natural occurrence to see the male blossoms fall off.
